All things Mustang (& other thoughts)

Hurricane V-8

Looks like Ford must be proud of it’s new motor it’s installing into the Boss Mustang, Hurricane V-8. The 5.0 liter goes back the original size the 302 it used back in the early years of the powerful Boss Mustang.

Not sure what the name means “Hurricane” but they do intend on using the motor in some of their other vehicles as well. It has to be good for Ford to be installing it in the new Boss. Hurricanes are for the most part, strong powerful forces of nature.

I know the 4.6L that is installed in the GT Mustang is used the same way in various other Ford and Lincoln models.

Now I’ve also read that the motor may produce more horsepower than the original 390HP. They are saying now as much as 425-435 HP. Can you have too much horsepower in your Mustang? Ya I didn’t think so either. On the down side if there is one they will only produce 1000 models of the Boss. So you better hurry and reserve one today.

I just hope the major body style make-over planned for 2010 is a good one for Mustang in general. The first pictures I’ve seen of the new version I like. It took time for me to appreciate it’s new look. They keep saying they are trying to stay ahead of the Camaro and Challenger models coming out.

Have to stay tuned for how this all turns out.

  1. Man that is power. We carry Airaid cold air intakes for mustangs. I can’t wait to add an Airaid system to one of these new monster engines coming out.
